The Stars of One Tree Hill: Where Are They Now?

One Tree Hill first premiered on The WB back in 2003 and quickly became a fan favorite. The drama series about two rival brothers, Lucas and Nathan Scott, who share a father but were raised in very different worlds. Set in the fictional town of Tree Hill, North Carolina, the show followed the lives and loves of these two families and their friends. With its clever dialogue, relatable characters, and storylines that tackled serious issues like school violence and drug abuse, One Tree Hill connected with viewers and developed a devoted following during its nine season run.

After nearly a decade on the air, One Tree Hill ended in 2012. But the show lived on in syndication and continued to attract new audiences. And the cast has remained in the spotlight as well, going on to take on exciting new projects on screens both big and small.

Chad Michael Murray (Lucas Scott)

Chad Michael Murray led the cast as conflicted good guy Lucas Scott. Since leaving Tree Hill behind, Chad has stayed busy acting in movies like Fruitvale Station, Other People’s Children, and Survive the Night. He’s also appeared on TV shows including Chosen, Agent Carter, and Riverdale. Chad even wrote his first novel, American Drifter, which was published in 2017. He married his Chosen co-star Sarah Roemer in 2015, and they have two children together.

James Lafferty (Nathan Scott)

James Lafferty played Nathan Scott, the former villain who won viewers over as he evolved into a better man. Post-One Tree Hill, James has appeared in several independent films as well as shows like Crisis and The Haunting of Hill House. He also directed five episodes of One Tree Hill. In 2020, James executive produced the TV series Everyone Is Doing Great, which he also starred in. On the personal side, he remains close friends with his former co-stars.

Sophia Bush (Brooke Davis)

As Brooke Davis, Sophia Bush portrayed a popular cheerleader with a passion for fashion design. She went on star as detective Erin Lindsay on Chicago P.D. for several seasons. Sophia has also been involved in advocacy work, co-founding the organization I Am a Voter. and speaking out about topics like environmental protections and equal rights. She called off her engagement to Google executive Dan Fredinburg in 2014. Sophia has since been romantically linked to several high-profile men including Jesse Lee Soffer, her Chicago P.D. love interest.

Hilarie Burton (Peyton Sawyer)

As musically gifted Peyton Sawyer, Hilarie Burton brought plenty of emotional depth to the show. She continued acting in films like Our Very Own, The List, and The Secret Life of Bees. Hilarie also co-hosted the MTV show Total Request Live and appeared as Dr. Lauren Boswell on Grey’s Anatomy. She married fellow actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan in 2019, after ten years together. They have two children.

Bethany Joy Lenz (Haley James Scott)

Bethany Joy Lenz played Nathan’s eventual wife Haley James Scott. Post-One Tree Hill, Bethany has starred as Michelle on Dexter and enjoyed recurring roles on shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. She also writes and performs music, releasing several albums and EPs. Bethany married Michael Galeotti in 2005, but they divorced in 2012. She wed Wes Ramsey in 2018 after several years of dating.

Paul Johansson (Dan Scott)

As Dan Scott, Lucas and Nathan's ruthless father, Paul Johansson made an effective villain you loved to hate. Since his One Tree Hill days, Paul has appeared in TV shows like Beauty and the Beast, Motive, and Van Helsing. He's also recognized for his work in several Hallmark Channel movies. Paul got married in 2017 to Gabriela Oltean, with whom he shares a son.

Lee Norris (Mouth McFadden)

Lee Norris portrayed loyal friend Mouth McFadden, who started out as a TV broadcaster at Tree Hill High. Post-One Tree Hill, Lee has appeared on shows like The Haunting of Sunshine Girl, Girl Meets World, and will star in the upcoming Hulu series TrollsTopia. On the personal side, Lee has been married to Andrea Norris since 2011, and they have three children together.

Antwon Tanner (Skills Taylor)

As kindhearted Skills Taylor, Antwon Tanner quickly became a One Tree Hill favorite. Since leaving the show, he's appeared on TV shows like Black Jesus and Survivor's Remorse. Antwon made headlines in 2013 when he pleaded guilty to selling Social Security cards. Thankfully it seems the actor has moved past this troubled chapter, recently hosting a podcast called Uncensored and appearing at One Tree Hill conventions.

Barbara Alyn Woods (Deb Scott)

Barbara Alyn Woods portrayed Deb Scott, the troubled mother of Nathan and ex-wife of Dan Scott. Post-One Tree Hill, Barbara has acted in shows like Eastwick, Revenge, The Blacklist, and Chicago Med. She also produces the web series Break a Hip, which she created and stars in. Barbara is a passionate advocate for holistic healing and regularly leads meditation and sound bath sessions.

Craig Sheffer (Keith Scott)

As Lucas' kind but doomed uncle Keith Scott, Craig Sheffer was a standout part of the One Tree Hill cast. An established actor before the show, Craig has continued taking on projects over the years. He's appeared on Hellcats, CSI, The Mentalist, Hatfields & McCoys, and Longmire. Craig published the book A Father's Son in 2011 and does photography in his spare time.

One Tree Hill may have ended years ago, but clearly the stars have continued shining brightly in its aftermath. While fans would undoubtedly love to see some kind of reunion down the line, it's nice to know the cast has gone on to enjoy success in Hollywood and fulfilling personal lives as well.
