The History of the Jackson County Home Show

The Jackson County Home Show has been a beloved local tradition for over 30 years. First started in 1989 as a small exhibition of local contractors and home goods vendors, it has since grown into one of the premier home and garden shows in the Pacific Northwest, attracting tens of thousands of attendees every year.

Humble Beginnings

The first Jackson County Home Show was held in a modest event hall in downtown Medford with just 28 local businesses represented. It was spearheaded by the Jackson County Builders Association as a way to showcase local construction contractors and home improvement companies to residents looking to renovate or build new homes in the area.

A Growing Success

The home show proved to be a surprise success in that inaugural year, drawing over 3,000 attendees eager to meet with contractors and get inspiration for their own home projects. Buoyed by the enthusiastic community response, the Builders Association decided to make it an annual event.

Over the next decade, the show steadily grew in size and scope. More contractors, landscapers, interior designers and other home improvement pros joined each year to exhibit their services. Unique garden spaces, full model home interiors, and DIY seminars were added to the event lineup.

By 2000, the Jackson County Home Show had grown into one of the top attractions in Southern Oregon, spanning three full days every spring and drawing crowds upwards of 15,000 people. It transformed into a full lifestyle experience celebrating all things home and garden.
