Buddy the Elf Searches for His Dad in New York City at Christmas
The Story of Buddy the Elf Searching for His Dad
As Christmas approached, Buddy the elf was full of holiday cheer. As an elf in Santa's North Pole workshop, he absolutely loved everything about Christmas. But deep down, Buddy longed to find his real father. You see, as a baby Buddy crawled into Santa's sack and was taken back to the North Pole. So while Santa and the elves raised him, he didn't know anything about his actual family. He didn't even know his real name! As far as Buddy knew, his name was Buddy and the elves were his family.
Buddy Decides It's Time to Find His Dad
But this year, Buddy decided it was finally time to find his biological father. So he told the elf foreman that he was going to leave the North Pole to track down his dad. The other elves warned Buddy that he wouldn't fit in with people in the real world - after all, Buddy was over 6 feet tall and worked making toys all day! But Buddy was undeterred - he had made up his mind.
So on Christmas Eve Eve (December 23rd to be exact!), Buddy snuck into Santa's sack as he was preparing for his big trip. He curled up with all the teddy bears and off they went on Santa's sleigh! As the sleigh landed on rooftops, Buddy popped out and found himself in New York City.
Buddy Explores New York City
At first Buddy was completely captivated by the Big Apple during the Christmas season. The lights, the window displays, the Rockefeller Center tree - it was even more magical than he had imagined! Being amongst average-sized humans was definitely an adjustment, but Buddy was enjoying the freedom of walking the busy streets.
He asked humans if they knew where his dad or the rest of his family could be. Most people ignored him or gave him strange looks of course. A few laughed at his silly elf outfit with its bright yellow tights and green elf shoes. But Buddy didn't mind - he was just thrilled to be on this big adventure!
Walter Hobbs, His Potential Father
After some extensive searching, Buddy was able to track down a man named Walter Hobbs who could potentially be his biological father. When he showed up at Walter's fancy Manhattan office, Walter could hardly believe his eyes. This massive elf-man was claiming to be the son he never knew about? It seemed absolutely crazy.
Through a DNA test, it was confirmed - Buddy really was Walter's long lost son! Walter was shocked but quickly tried to make a spot for Buddy in his uptight professional world. His wife Emily and their young son Michael were a bit more welcoming to Buddy.
Buddy Struggles to Adjust to Daily Life
But needless to say, Buddy had a tough time conforming to average modern human life. His childlike innocence and fixation on everything related to Santa Claus and Christmas was pretty strange to the Hobbs family.
Going to work with Walter was fun the first day, but Buddy quickly realized how different he was. He preferred making gingerbread houses and fruitcakes to the serious corporate business lifestyle. Even things like taking the subway or hailing a taxi were brand new experiences for Buddy that took some adjustment.
In the End, Christmas Cheer Wins
For a while, it seemed like Buddy's dream to find his family and live happily ever after was falling apart. But being back with his elf community, including his girlfriend Jovie, made Buddy realize who he truly was - an elf who sees the good in everyone and everything! He spread that holiday spirit wherever he went.
In the end, the Christmas cheer Buddy radiated made even grumpy Walter lighten up. As Buddy hopped on Santa's sleigh to head back to the North Pole, Walter gave him a special goodbye gift - a handknitted green and yellow sweater with a note that read "Bye Buddy, hope you find your dad! - Love, Walter".
So while Buddy learned that the human world may not be for him, connecting with Walter, Emily, Michael and Jovie still filled his heart with warmth. He realized that Christmas spirit and finding family extends beyond just blood relatives. As he waved goodbye, he knew he had found the holiday love and connection he had wished for.
