Getting Lunch Detention and Laughing with My Mom about It
As someone who generally followed the rules in school, I was known as a bit of a teacher's pet. There were definitely times that I should have gotten in trouble but didn't. I think everyone was just afraid of being the reason I ended up back in the psych ward. Anyways, I want to share a funny story about the one time I did get referred to the principal's office in high school.
Calling a Monitor a Bitch Gets Me in Trouble
It was after school one day. I was standing in the lobby hugging my partner at the time. We weren't doing anything serious, just hugging. But one of the monitors, who was always in a bad mood for no reason, told us to stop. I definitely lost my cool and called her a bitch, which was rude and wrong of me to do. But she wasn't scared to write me up over it either.
Normally when you get a referral at my school, they would announce your name over the loudspeaker to come to the office. But one of my teachers just came and got me from class privately. They said I couldn't be calling the monitors names, even if she did have an attitude sometimes. I knew I was in the wrong.
Getting Lunch Detention Isn't So Bad
The consequence was 2 days of lunch detention, which honestly wasn't that bad. It was quiet and no one was bothering me. Plus, my mom worked at the school and would come bring me food during my detentions! Getting to hang out with her away from the normal chaos of the cafeteria was kind of nice. You know you hated high school when lunch detention becomes one of your best memories. At least I can say I didn't get into too much trouble overall.
