Bobcats Cheer Squad Claims 2023 SWCS Championship Title
The Road to SWCS Glory
The Bobcats have steadily been building towards this moment over the past few years. Under the expert guidance of head coach Alicia Thompson, each season has seen the team inch ever closer to the top of the SWCS rankings. Many of this year's cheerleaders have been training together since their early days in the junior squad program.
A Preseason Powerhouse
The Bobcats began laying the foundation for their triumphant SWCS season long before the actual competition got underway. They put in countless hours during the preseason period to ensure their skills and routines were polished to perfection.
"We focused heavily on fundamentals early on - improving flexibility, strength training, nailing every motion and transition," said senior captain Alyssa Chen. "That meant lots of reps, but we saw it paying off in how tight and clean our routines looked."
Bonding Through Shared Adversity
In addition to the on-mat training, the Bobcats cheer squad put just as much work into deepening their bonds as a team. Squad bonding trips and activities helped unite them behind their #1 goal.
"This sport is too hard without complete trust in your teammates," noted Coach Thompson. "I could see the care and connection between these girls growing week after week. I knew that cohesion would give us an edge on competition day."
Excelling Against Elite Rivals
If the Bobcats squad had proven one thing heading into the SWCS event, it was that they refused to back down from even the most daunting challenges.
Facing Off vs Archenemies
Their biggest rivals, the Warriors, were lined up to compete directly against the Bobcats. The Warriors had dashed the Bobcats’ SWCS dreams on multiple previous occasions, but this iterations of the squad remained undaunted.
"We knew it would come down to us and the Warriors," said junior spotter Samantha Lewis. "Honestly, we couldn't wait to hit the mat and show them how the Bobcats do things now."
Owning the Stage
From their very first rally cries upon taking the floor, it was evident the Bobcats had come ready to seize their moment. They unleashed a high-energy yet polished routine that left the crowd roaring for more. When they struck their final pose, the Bobcats had set a new standard for SWCS greatness.
"I think we earned a lot of new believers and fans with that performance," said sophomore base Clarissa Lopez after leaving the stage. "But we also earned that championship trophy. We couldn't have put together a better showing than what we did out there today."
Standing Atop the SWCS
When everything was tabulated, the Bobcats walk-on dynasty dreams were finally fulfilled. The Warriors gave them a run as always, but they couldn't quite match the Bobcats stellar overall score.
Celebrating Sweet Victory
The Bobcats didn't hold back when their first place finish was announced. All their pent up feelings of joy, relief, and satisfaction spilled forth at once.
"Everything we had worked towards was contained in that moment. The months of preparation, the previous near misses, it evaporated in a sea of smiles and happy tears," said flyer Stacy Kent.
On Top of the Cheer World
With the gleaming SWCS champions trophy now back at school awaiting placement in the trophy case, the Bobcats have cemented their status as the region's preeminent cheer program.
"Other squads are going to aspire towards the level we've achieved. But they better be prepared to put in the same relentless effort we did," said Coach Thompson.
For her history making athletes, the SWCS title stands as enduring proof of what can happen when true dedication meets Bobcats cheer spirit.
