Black Bear Steals Golf Bag at Course in British Columbia, Canada
Recently at Westwood Plateau Golf Course in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada, golfers experienced an unexpected wildlife encounter. On a Monday evening around sunset, a group was playing the 12th hole when a black bear suddenly appeared near them on the course.
The Bear Drags Off the Golf Bag
According to an employee of the golf course, the bear approached the group and proceeded to drag an entire bag of golf clubs down into a steep ravine near the hole. Black bear sightings are not uncommon at Westwood Plateau, but the employee said he had never seen anything quite like this in his five years working there.
Was the Bear After Food or Clubs?
It's unclear what exactly drew the bear to the group of golfers or possessed it to haul off an entire bag. However, the employee believes the bear was likely attracted by the scent of food rather than showing any particular interest in golf equipment. This time of year, as bears prepare for hibernation, golf courses can be appealing areas to search for a quick meal.
What Happened to the Bear and Bag?
Unfortunately, there is no update yet on what became of the adventurous black bear or the stolen golf bag it dragged away. Wildlife authorities were not contacted about the incident. It seems this bear may have gotten away scot-free with quite the haul!
