Step Outside Your Fashion Comfort Zone with These Trendsetter Pants
Embracing the Latest Pants Trends
Fashion is constantly evolving and setting new trends that style enthusiasts eagerly follow. Recently, I've noticed some exciting new styles of pants that are emerging as must-have pieces. As someone who loves to stay on top of the latest fashion, I had to try out these trendsetter pants!
Bike shorts have become a mainstream staple over the last few years. What started as athletic wear has now expanded into a fashion trend of its own. Bike shorts are perfect for a sporty, casual look paired with an oversized tee or sweater. High-waisted bike shorts are especially flattering. I picked up a few pairs in different colors and textures from Target, including classic black along with fun prints. They are so comfortable and easy to dress up or down!
Wide Leg Pants
Another pant style that has taken off is wide leg pants. These have a billowy, relaxed fit through the hips and thighs that tapers into an exaggerated wide leg. It creates a very dramatic, bold look. I opted for a pair with a high waist and front pleats to play up the voluminous shape. Wide leg pants pair perfectly with crop tops or fitted bodysuits to balance the proportions. I can definitely see myself wearing these statement pants on nights out or for events where I want to make an entrance!
Cargo Pants
Cargo pants are back from the 90s in a big way for both men and women. The utilitarian aesthetic and pockets galore provide both fashion and function. I went for a slim fitting cargo pant style in olive green, a color that has also made a comeback. I'll be wearing these cargo pants with white sneakers and casual graphic tees for a relaxed weekend look. These pants work great for running errands while still looking pulled together. The ample pockets come in handy for carrying a phone, wallet and other everyday essentials.
Flared Yoga Pants
Even yoga pants are getting a fun update this season with fashionable flared legs. I picked up a few pair of buttery soft, high waisted yoga pants with a slight flare at the ankle. They have a cool retro vibe that reminds me of 70s styles. I love wearing these to and from yoga class or Pilates. The stretchy fabric allows me to move comfortably during my workout. Yet the tailored flare at the bottom elevates the look beyond just standard yoga leggings.
Experimenting with Different Textures
In addition to silhouettes, I'm having fun playing with different textures in my pants. Velvet, leather, satin and faux fur have all made their way into my closet for bottoms. These add visual interest and luxury to an outfit.
Velvet Pants
Few fabrics feel as sumptuous as velvet. I picked up a pair of wide leg, emerald green velvet pants that instantly up my style game. The rich color and soft texture makes these pants perfect for the holidays and special events. I love dressing them up with heels and a silky cami for an evening out. Velvet pants can also work for the office when paired with a blazer and flats.
Leather Leggings
Leather leggings are sexy, edgy and oh so cool. They look fantastic paired with oversized sweaters or a moto jacket. I chose a faux leather pair in a deep wine color. The high waist style is flattering and pulls the look together. Leather leggings bring just the right amount of attitude to any outfit. I'll definitely be wearing these time and time again.
Satin Joggers
For a luxurious take on athletic wear, I picked up some satin joggers. The satin fabric gives these casual joggers a fancy upgrade. I love the way the light reflects off the sheen. Satin joggers look amazing paired with crop tops or bodysuits for a night out dancing. I also appreciate how the elastic waistband remains comfortable even when dressed up. The satin elevates the look while still letting me move freely.
Playing with Proportions
In addition to silhouettes and textures, I'm having fun playing with unexpected proportions in my pants. From cropped lengths to oversized fits, these unconventional styles make a stylish statement.
Cropped Flares
Cropped flares put a modern spin on 70s-inspired wide leg pants. I chose a black denim pair with distressed details and a cropped length that hits right above my ankle. The cropped flares are a great alternative to skinny jeans. They look killer with heels or wedges to highlight the leg. I'll be rocking these all season long!
Oversized Carrot Pants
Oversized styles remain trendy, including wide leg carrot pants. I found a pair made from lightweight linen that have an ultra-relaxed fit through the hips and thighs with a billowing leg. They are so roomy and breathable for warm weather. I'll be wearing these statement pants on the weekend with tank tops or crop tops. The voluminous silhouette provides a flattering balance. Linen is perfect for laidback summer ensembles.
Elevated Sweatpants
Sweatpants have come a long way from their gym origins! Elevated fabrics and silhouettes have transformed sweats into fashion-forward statement pieces. My current obsession is linen blend joggers. They have the comfort and ease of sweats with a more put together vibe. I'll be rocking these for weekend coffee runs and errands. The drawstring waist and ankle cuffs give them a jogger fit, while the linen material makes them feel special enough to wear anywhere.
Must-Have Accessories
The right accessories can transform a basic pair of pants into a showstopper. Here are some of my must-have add-ons this season:
Designer Belt
A designer belt instantly elevates any pair of pants. I love styling high-waisted trousers with a branded belt. Gucci and Hermès make timeless belt styles that work with so many looks. Whether worn with jeans or slacks, a luxurious belt pulls the outfit together.
Big, bold earrings look fantastic with any pant style. Statement earrings draw attention upward and provide eye-catching contrast to pants. I like to wear sculptural hoops or dramatic tassel earrings with wide leg trousers. The mixture of loose, billowy pants and attention-grabbing earrings creates a stylish juxtaposition.
Strappy Heels
Strappy heels take pants from day to night instantly. I love pairing cropped flares or leather leggings with barely-there heels. The mix of sleek, architectural pants with feminine heels strikes the perfect balance. Strappies also elongate the legs, ideal for cropped lengths.
Step Outside Your Comfort Zone!
This season I'm embracing pants in ways I never have before. It's so fulfilling to step outside my comfort zone and experiment with new silhouettes, textures and details. Trying trendsetter styles has opened up so many stylish possibilities. While some trendy pants may seem bold initially, incorporating one statement pair at a time helps ease into new looks. Testing out on-trend bottoms has been an exciting adventure in developing my own signature style. Don't be afraid to try something new – exploring emerging trends is the best way to find pieces that you'll love!
