Getting Glammed Up For Beyoncé While Working

Hey friends! Welcome back to my channel. Today I'm bringing you along for a work vlog as I get all glammed up before heading to the Beyoncé Renaissance Tour concert straight from working on set! As a freelance makeup artist, my days are always different and you never know where I'll end up. For today's gig I'm working on an advertising photoshoot and campaign, but the team was kind enough to schedule the shoot around my Bey concert plans tonight - so as soon as we wrap I'll be rushing to the venue.

Morning Makeup Routine

Since I'll be doing makeup on models all day, I still like to get ready in the morning. My go-to look is a soft glam using neutral browns and golds. I start with a hydrating primer and medium coverage foundation applied with a damp beauty sponge. To brighten under my eyes I'll use a peach color corrector and natural beige concealer. I set everything in place with a loose setting powder focusing on my t-zone.

For my eyes I first use a light brown transition shade all over the crease. Then I deepen the outer corner with a darker brown and highlight the inner corner with a shimmery champagne. I finish the eyes with brown liner on top and black liner on my lower waterline. My mascara is always waterproof - I love the Maybelline Lash Sensational for holding a curl all day.

To contour my face I'll use a cool-toned powder bronzer and do subtle highlights with a gold highlighter on my cheekbones, brow bone, and inner corner. My blush is a soft rosy pink that brightens up my complexion. I fill in my brows with a pencil and use a tinted brow gel to set them. For my lips I'll use a nude lip liner and glossy peach lipstick. And that completes my everyday work makeup!

Arriving On Set

Once I'm all glammed up I head over to the studio for the photoshoot. Today we're working on a campaign for a new athleisure and loungewear line. As the makeup artist it's my job to get the models ready and touch them up between photos. For this shoot we want the models to look natural yet polished.

I start by prepping everyone's skin - this helps makeup apply smoothly and last throughout the day. I apply moisturizer, primer, and a oil-free foundation with a demi-matte finish. I use concealer to cover any blemishes and illuminate the undereye area. To set, I use a loose translucent powder and mist a makeup setting spray.

For the eyes I do simple natural brows and a sweep of brown shadow in the crease. I use a nude eyeliner on the waterline to brighten up the eyes. For mascara I use a volumizing and lengthening formula, applying a few coats to the top lashes. The lips are also kept neutral with a nude liner and glossy peach lipstick.

The key is keeping the skin fresh and glowy since we want to show off the athleisure clothes. I use a medium coverage foundation and focus most of the coverage under the eyes, around the nose and on any blemishes. I bronze up the skin with a neutral matte bronzer and highlight using a champagne colored highlighter on the high points of the face. This gives a subtle warmth and radiance to the complexion.

Wrapping Up the Shoot

The shoot goes really smoothly and we get some amazing shots for the client. As we start wrapping up I touch up the models' makeup one last time for any final photos. I mattify any shiny areas and make sure bronzer and highlighter are blended. I also touch up lipstick and add more mascara coats.

Once the shoot is finished I pack up my kit and chat with the clients and photography team. We got some really stellar images that are going to look amazing for the athleisure campaign. Even though I'm headed to a concert right after, I still take time to carefully clean all my brushes and tools before leaving. Being organized helps my freelance business run smoothly.

Concert Glam Time

After a quick Uber ride, I arrive at the arena with just enough time to freshen up my makeup before the concert. I brought my makeup bag along and head straight for the bathroom.

I start by blotting away any shine and applying more setting powder over my t-zone. Next I re-touch my bronzer and highlighter to look extra radiant. I apply blush a bit heavier than usual for an all-over healthy flush. I also intensify my neutral brown smokey eye by deepening the outer corners and lower lash line.

For my lips I switch to a deeper berry tone liner with a rose mauve liquid lipstick on top. This will last all night on the dance floor! The final step is popping on false lashes for a little extra drama. I applied individuals just on the outer halves of my eyes.

Just like that my concert look is complete and I'm ready to head into the arena! Nothing makes me happier than getting to see Beyoncé live AND spend the day doing what I love as a makeup artist. Now it's time to sing along and dance the night away. Thanks for watching my work and concert vlog - if you like these day in the life videos let me know! See you next time.

FAQs

What products do you use for your everyday makeup look?

For my soft glam I use a hydrating primer, medium coverage foundation, peach color corrector, neutral beige concealer, loose setting powder, brown and champagne eyeshadows, brown and black eyeliners, volumizing waterproof mascara, cool-toned powder bronzer, gold highlighter, rosy blush, brow pencil, tinted brow gel, nude lip liner and glossy peach lipstick.

What kind of makeup do you do for fashion shoots?

For this athleisure photoshoot I prepped the models' skin first. Then I used an oil-free, demi-matte foundation with concealer just where needed. I set with translucent powder and used bronzer for subtle warmth along with a champagne highlighter on the high points of the face. The eyes were kept simple with groomed brows, neutral brown shadow and nude waterline eyeliner. Mascara was applied to the top lashes only. The lips were kept neutral as well.

How do you change up your makeup for a concert?

For concert makeup I intensify my normal look. I touch up bronzer, blush and highlighter for extra vibrance. I add depth to my eye look by smoking it out more on the lashline and lower lashline. I change to a deeper berry lip liner with a rose mauve liquid lipstick for long wear. And I pop on false lashes on just the outer halves of my eyes for drama.

What makeup products do you bring to concerts?

In my concert makeup bag I make sure to bring setting powder for touch ups, my bronzer, highlighter and blush for reapplication. I also bring eyeliner and eyeshadows to intensify my look along with makeup remover and cotton pads. For lips I'll bring lip liners in berry tones and long wearing liquid lipsticks. And false lashes and lash glue are concert must-haves!

How do you balance your concert plans while working?

Communication is key! I always let clients know ahead of time if I have an evening commitment like a concert after a shoot. I schedule shoots earlier in the day to leave me time to get ready for the show afterwards. Having an organized, efficient makeup kit helps me move quickly between jobs. And I prioritize my concert makeup routine to only focus on enhancing my normal look.
